I have been a wedding photographer for over ten years, I have done more pre-wedding engagement shoots than I can remember. I love shooting in a forest location although a beach shoot is pretty awesome too.
The best time to start a sunset beach shoot is about 35 minutes before sunset – weather dependant – because it is at that time that you get the best light from what remains of the sun’s light. Shooting a forest location is the most convenient as the shoot is done in the shade, which also means that I can bring some artificial light with me to fill the shadows or create a main key-light.
